WITH Christmas just a few days away, excited children flocked to Trinity Retail Park to ask for the presents at the top of their toys wish list.

Families went along to Toys R Us to help youngsters decide what they wanted and to pass the message on to Father Christmas.

Dominic Farrell, aged seven, from Egerton, was at the store with mum Sharon, aged 40.

The Bolton School pupil said: “The Skylanders Swap Force video game is my favourite and I also like the game Minecraft.

“What I like about Christmas is giving people presents and spending time with my family.”

Mrs Farrell, a salon owner, added: “Dominic’s been a good boy this year so I’m confident he’ll get what he wants.

“Toys are completely different now. They’re much more computerised — it was very basic back in the day.”

Another excited shopper was Pheobe Wordsworth, aged four, who was at the store with grandfather Philip Derbyshire, aged 65, from Farnworth.

Pheobe, a pupil at Grosvenor Nursery in Kearsley, wants a piano for Christmas and a Grand High Witch Doll.

She also likes the Anna Toddler Doll, from the hit Disney movie Frozen.

Pheobe said: “I hope I get a piano because I really like music.

“The thing I like the most about Christmas is getting presents and eating mince pies.”

Victoria Cutajar, aged two, was at the store with mum Lisa Cunliffe, aged 32, from Westhoughton.

Ms Cunliffe said: “Victoria wants Peppa Pig. It seems very popular.

“The toys of today don’t last as long, they are not as good quality as they used to be — but there’s a lot more choice.”

Travelling from Wigan were Tracy Thorpe, aged 32, and her son Sam, aged two.

Ms Thorpe said: “Sam has been asking for cars. He likes the wheels and the way they look. He’s hoping to get a toy Mini Cooper for Christmas and I’m sure Santa will get it for him.

“I love seeing the children’s faces in the morning when they’re opening their presents. As a parent, you can’t beat it.”

Joanne Franks, aged 32, of Stoneclough, paid a visit with her daughter Lilly Layton, aged three.

Lilly said: “I want a toy aeroplane because of all the little people inside them.”

Ms Franks added: “I can’t wait to see Lilly’s face on Christmas Day. It’s the best part of Christmas.”

Anne Cox, aged 61, of Tottington, Bury, was helping Santa decide what to get her granddaughter Georgia, aged eight, for Christmas.

She said: “Georgia’s asked for a Monster High Doll. I think she would like one or two Barbie Dolls as well, but she’s got a lot of them.

“Christmas with children is fantastic, absolutely brilliant. It wouldn’t be Christmas without them, would it?”
