IT was a case of beginners’ luck for this Bingo winner.

Ann Davis says she has never been to bingo before because she is too nervous to shout “full house” — so playing The Bolton News and Mecca Bingo version was right up her street.

Mrs Davis marked off numbers each day and sent off her completed “full house” card in the post before being selected at random to win £500.

The 71-year-old, who lives with her husband Clive, aged 78, in Clifton, Swinton, has not decided what she is going to spend her winnings on just yet, but says it might help towards Christmas presents for her two great grandchildren — and a new carpet.

She added: “I entered just for fun really. I have never won anything like this before and I’ve never been to bingo either because I’m too scared to shout out in case I’ve got it wrong. I sent off my entry a couple of weeks ago after picking out the numbers from The Bolton News each day and, when my card was filled, I sent it off in the post.

“I was delighted when I got a call to say I’d won £500 — it’s a lot of money, just before Christmas too.

“I haven’t decided exactly what I’m going to spend it on yet.

“If it’s not going to go towards my two great grandchildren’s gifts, it’ll go towards a new carpet.”
