WHILE Game of Thrones fans are forced to wait for season four of the epic fantasy drama — University of Bolton graduate Leon Harris already knows what thrilling and shocking scenes will greet them.

The 29-year-old special effects development graduate has helped create the scenes after landing a job on one of the world’s most popular shows.

Mr Harris, from Turton, said: “It’s a bit surreal because the job came out of nowhere. I had finished some work and the boss from that job gave me a phone number for the Game of Thrones guys. I spoke to them and was told ‘okay you start Monday’.”

Game of Thrones is based on the books by George RR Martin.

Mr Harris added: “I work as a freelancer, like most people beginning their career in SFX, and as such you need to be ready to be flexible.”

He has already made contacts in the highly competitive industry through chance meetings, including in a pub with the director of Bolton-based music video company "Sitcom Soldiers".

Mr Harris, who started watching Games of Thrones last Christmas, has stayed tight-lipped about the upcoming series, which will be aired in April.

His girlfriend, Jane Bailey, from Bury, is an enormous fan having read the books filled him on the plot lines.

For three months he was based on set in Northern Ireland.

Mr Harris said: “My girlfriend has read the books so knows what is going to happen, but I’m not going to spoil it for her.

“It was a lot of fun working on Game of Thrones, and the crew were amazing, it was like a really nice family.”

He says his career highlight so far was not Game of Thrones but working on the 2012 Tim Burton directed vampire comedy, Dark Shadows, which starred Hollywood A-lister, Johnny Depp.

Mr Harris’s other credits include Captain America, Doctor Who, Fast and Furious 6, Dark Shadows, Da Vinci’s Demons and Coronation Street.

He said: ”The course at the University of Bolton definitely helped as if I hadn’t done it I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now. It taught me lots of different skills as well as practical work requirements, like working to deadlines.”

Other Bolton SFX graduates have gone on to work blockbusters such as Skyfall, Man of Steel and Harry Potter.
