IT was full steam ahead for the Northern Mill Engine Society exhibition where 27 restored steam engines were on show.
Hundreds of visitors went to The Bolton Steam Museum in Mornington Road on Saturday to admire the fully working mill engines. Volunteers rescued and restored the engines.
The collection features five engines built in Bolton, including one which is the only one of its kind left in the world.
Society member, David Lewis, said: “They are mainly the engines which powered the cotton mills around Lancashire. We usually have about 350 people coming to see the display. It’s normally young boys who love to hear all the noises and watch the wheels go round.”
