A UNIVERSITY student is making a desperate plea for thieves to return her coursework and certificates which have been stolen from her car.

Geraldine Roohan discovered thieves had ransacked her car as it was parked outside her home in Primrose Street, Astley Bridge.

They had stolen university textbooks and her work along with GCSE certificates — as well as Christmas presents for her two children, Nathanial, aged 15 and Joely, aged seven.

Miss Roohan, aged 36, said: “The certificates, text books and my work are worthless to the thieves, but are so important to me.

"I just want them back, the thieves could even post the documents to me, because they stole from outside my home.”

Miss Roohan, who is on a access course at the University of Bolton, is in the middle of applying to Salford University to study to become a mental health nurse and needs the documents for the application process.

She said: “I know I should not have left the stuff in my car, I very rarely park there and normally park on my dad’s drive because he just lives around the corner.

“It is so frustrating. An iPad was stolen with pictures of my 10 week-old nephew, Joseph, on it and photographs, which my son wanted to make into a collage for his auntie for Christmas.

“Those pictures are irreplaceable, I would like those back. It is the sentimental value which cannot be replaced.”

Miss Roohan spotted something was wrong late last Friday morning when she went to her car and noticed it looked as if the door was not properly closed.

She saw the glove compartment had been emptied, and the visors were down.

Miss Roohan added: “They even took a small suitcase with my overnight stuff in after I stayed over with a friend and my swimming bag — what do they want with that?

“I don’t feel any resentment towards them, I just want my stuff back and will offer a reward.”

Police confirmed they were making inquiries about the theft. Anyone with information can contact Miss Roohan on 07799 378880.
