A TEENAGER from Harwood is hoping for success in the final of a singing competition.
Emilia Ward, aged 17, will compete in the grand final of the national music competition, Open Mic UK, at The NEC in Birmingham on Saturday, January 18.
Emilia, who is studying a level three vocal artist course at Trafford College, said “I am so happy to be given this opportunity and I am very grateful for the continuous support from friends and family — if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be this far in competition.”
A total of 45 friends and family members went along to support the singer at the last stage of the competition, including mum Sarah, who runs the Bolton-based Theatre Dance School.
Emilia added: “I am so lucky to have a family that are willing to invest time, money and support into my dream, and every day I thank them for this.”
The overall winner will be offered £5,000 to spend on the development of their music.
