A COLLAPSED man attacked three paramedics — one of them a female student — in an alcohol-fuelled rage in his home.

Neil Pointon, aged 41, had collapsed at his living room in Everard Close, Walkden, after drinking a “copious” amount of red wine at a neighbour’s pre-Christmas party.

After being told that the paramedics were kicked and punched, District Judge Mark Hadfield said he “wanted time to consider the very possibility of imprisonment”.

Remanding Pointon for reports until January 21 the judge warned him: “You lashed out at these paramedics and any assaults on medical staff is viewed by courts as very serious”.

Pointon pleaded guilty at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court to three counts of common assault on December 15.

Zahra Baqri, prosecuting, said Pointon appeared to be unconscious in the living room when paramedics were called in the early hours of the morning.

But when paramedic student Kirsty Boardman was checking on Pointon, he lashed out and punched her on the arm and kicked her in the leg.

Afterwards he attacked her colleagues in similar fashion and one of them was thumped and kneed in the groin.

Miss Baqri told the court that none of the paramedics suffered any injury, but felt pain.

After his arrest, Pointon was argumentative at the police station, but later expressed his remorse and apologised, the court heard.
