A CAR plunged into a ditch and another was left embedded in a wall after a crash in Edgworth.

Bolton North Fire Station's firefighters were called to Broadhead Road, Edgworth, at about 6.35pm this evening after receiving reports that a car had gone down an embankment and the engine was smoking.

A call was also received saying a car was embedded in a wall and a car was on fire.

Nobody was trapped in the cars.

Police, the fire service and the North West Ambulance Service attended.

Two people were taken to hospital but were not thought to be seriously injured.

Firefighters found an airbag had gone off and was smoking, but there was no fire.

Firefighters from Darwen Fire Station also attended.

Crews were at the scene for about 30 minutes.
