A TEENAGER is in the running to be crowned Miss Teen Great Britain.

Emily Lowe, aged 17, had never competed in pageants until a charity show for Joining Jack last year, when she won the Miss Popularity title.

She has since obtained a sponsor, entered the Miss Teen Great Britain competition and been chosen to represent Greater Manchester and Leigh.

Emily, a Winstanley College student, said: “I have wanted to do something like this for quite a while and never got round to it.

“Winning Miss Popularity and then coming runner-up at the charity pageant last year made me decide to give it a go.

“The other regular competitors could not believe I had never entered a contest before, so I applied for this.

“This year, all the money raised will be donated to The Christie.”

Emily, of Priestfields, in Leigh, is studying for A-levels in English literature, religion, philosophy, media studies and Spanish, and hopes to study religion at university next year.
