Man left with broken jaw after random nightclub attack

The Bolton News: Vogue nightclub in Leigh Vogue nightclub in Leigh

A CLUBBER was left with a broken jaw after he was punched in the face by a stranger in Vogue nightclub in Leigh.

The 34-year-old victim was walking back from the club's smoking area and was with a friend in the rear foyer when he was attacked.

The stunned victim fell over backwards and was unable to see who punched him, and the attacker then fled.

He went to hospital because his jaw felt numb, and doctors told him that his jaw was broken.

The attack happened at the club in Spinning Jenny Way, Leigh, between 2.30am and 4.30am on Sunday, December 29.

PC Peter Stafford said: “The victim has absolutely no idea why a complete stranger would punch him in the face for no apparent reason.

“He can't remember upsetting anyone that night or getting into an argument - not that this would justify a violent assault.

“We know for a fact that the club, and the rear foyer – next to the smoking area - specifically, were busy that night so I'm confident someone would have seen this.

“We have spoken to some witnesses but, if you were there and we haven't spoken to you yet, then please call us.”

Anyone with information can call police on 0161 8567225 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

The (R.HERITAGE) comment is OUT OF ORDER AND IS UNCARING.. The whole point of the article is (A VICIOUS, EVIL UNWARRENTED, UNPROVOKED ASSAULT TOOK PLACE ON A LAD BY A COMPLETE BARSTEWARD WHO JUST HAPPENED TO BE IN THE SAME CLUB) It doesnt really matter where it happened (LEIGH IS IN LANCASHIRE, SAME AS BOLTON). I personally hope the police get this unforgivable cnut and lock him up for a long, long time... An the lad gets justice and this cnut is made to compensation through the courts. An then this lad also claims through the criminal injurys compensation scheme. Not that it'll ever ease the pain and the after affects of what happened.

I agree with ruined heritage. There's a story regarding events in Leigh almost everyday, which are no doubt recycled Leigh Journal news pieces. While I'll agree to the shocking nature of the unprovoked attack, just because it happened in Lancashire doesn't make it worthy local news. I'm sure punches are thrown and nose/jaws etc are broken in Blackburn, Preston and Burnley every weekend and by your reasoning because those places are in Lancashire, those incidents should be reported as as well. If that was the case there would be no room for any real news. As for Bar Vogue, if it's anything like the Bar Vogue in Bolton then the victim is lucky all he got was a broken jaw. I've been in the place once or twice (under duress of course) and to refer to the patrons as cretins buffoons and ne'er do wells would be to kind. To refer to the patrons of Vogue as knuckle dragging cocaine addicts would however be quite accurate.
