POLICE investigating a wave of knife robberies in Deane have arrested a suspect this morning.

They swooped on a 33-year-old man in Deane Church Lane, Deane, in the early hours today.

He is still in custody and is now being quizzed by police.

His arrest follows a spate of robberies in and around Deane Church Lane between last Thursday and Sunday.

They include a raid at KC Top Shop newsagents in Deane Church Lane, robberies at Talking Heads in Deane and at Cabello for Hair in Wigan Road.

Two street robberies also took place in Dorris Street on Thursday morning and one in Back Deane Church Lane on Saturday evening.

Insp Andy Sidebotham, who is in charge of Bolton Central neighbourhood policing team, said police are still hunting for a second man described as “gaunt” by victims.

He is said to be about 5ft 9ins tall and has been seen wearing a dark hooded top.

Insp Sidebotham reminded people to be aware of their surroundings, particularly if they are going to get cash in the area.
