THE heat is on for staff at Bolton Hospice who are preparing to walk on fire.
Shameen Lilley, Nicole Manley and events manager Maria Passarello will undertake the challenge at Bolton Golf Club on February 28.
Ms Passarello, who received a bone marrow transplant two years ago after being diagnosed with leukaemia, said the event was a great way to celebrate the anniversary of her operation.
She said: “Having battled cancer myself, I feel that I have faced my biggest fear and can now take on this challenge and many more.”
The golf club is searching for 30 volunteers to step up to the hot coals challenge.
As a nurse, Ms Manley sees what her patients go through every day and said she was inspired by their courage to participate.
She said: “I wanted to show them that I too can be brave and at the same time help to raise the much needed funds to provide the service we give them.”
