DEBBIE Halls-Evans dramatically missed being booted out of The Taste on Tuesday night after winning immunity in an earlier challenge.
Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson picked Debbie’s dish for the bottom three of the Channel 4 cooking programme — of which one contestant is sent home — calling her macaroni and cheese cushions “the spoon of doom”.
All three mentors, including Nigella, Ludo Lefebvre and Anthony Bourdain, were visibly shocked that Debbie had not produced a better “comfort food” dish.
But thankfully for Debbie, guest chef Michael Caines had given her immunity for serving the best spoonful of food to him in the pie challenge.
After the show the acclaimed chef even tweeted the relieved Horwich cook, who used to run the Delicieux Cafe, at the Doffcocker roundabout, off Chorley Old Road.
He said: “Well done you last night — all the best for the rest of the show.”
