A MAN was punched in the face as he left a pub in Leigh.

The 47-year-old man was leaving the Ale House pub in Henrietta Street, Leigh, when he was attacked.

He was no memory of the attack - the last thing he can recall is waking up in an ambulance.

The man was left with internal eye injuries after the attack, which happened at 11pm on Saturday, January 11.

PC Susan Martland said: “Unfortunately the victim does not remember anything about the actual assault and woke up in the ambulance.

"The last thing he remembered was saying goodbye to his friends before going to the toilet.

"From the information we have received, we believe the attack took place somewhere outside.

“Although from the surface it looks like he has suffered a black eye, his orbital socket and floor is fractured and also has restricted movement."

The police do not have a description of the suspects but are urging anyone who saw any kind of assault to get in touch.

The victim is 5ft 9in tall, with a clean shaven haircut and has dark prominent eyebrows.

On the night he was injured he was wearing a cream polo T-shirt, black jacket and black jeans.
