THE family of a brave teenager have helped bring a smile to the faces of poorly youngsters at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity donated TVs and DVDs to the children’s ward and the high dependency unit at the hospital.

Joshua, from Bury, spent time at the hospital over Christ-mas after suffering complications from a chest infection.

Dawn Fidler, Joshua’s mother and the charity’s founder, said: “It was amazing for Josh to able to be there and present it, because he has been so poorly recently.

“He was really proud, and they were absolutely gob-smacked at how much we gave them.

“It is tough being in hospital, and these kind of things can have a big impact so it is great to be able to help.”

The charity, which was launched in August, 2013 to coincide with Josh-ua’s 13th birthday, recently announced it had had smashed its first year’s fund-raising target of £50,000 in just six months, with £53,680 being raised through fundraising events and donations.

Joshua, of Walshaw Road, was diagnosed with his first brain tumour in 2004 at the age of three, and following complex surgery, he was left with complex physical disabilities due to the location of the tumour on the brain stem.

The charity is also planning to donate similar items to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, and is helping Birmingham Child-ren’s Hospital by raising £10,000 for a family room as part of a new children’s cancer unit.
