A MAN is being hunted by police for allegedly following a woman and a teenager around a supermarket.

The alleged victims are believed to have been followed around Asda in Priestners Way, Leigh, and into McDonald’s nearby.

The incident happened just before 8pm on Friday, January 17, at about 8pm.

Police want to speak to the man on the CCTV image who is white, in his 50s with a white beard. He was walking with a stick.

Det Con Alison Wallwork said: “We have scrutinised CCTV from both Asda and McDonald’s and believe a woman and teenage girl were followed around both locations.

“They appear to be oblivious to this and as part of our subsequent investigation we are now trying to identify the man in the CCTV image.”

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to call police on 0161 856 7292/7964, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Hysterical lunacy, there are no "victims" as there has been no crime. Have these people never read 1984? Thoughtcrime is nearer than you think...

Meanwhile in other news, a man followed a frail pensioner across the road to her house where she was robbed.

The Police took 2 hours to attend as they were too busy watching a man with a beard following someone round the aisles of Asda and then into a junk food shop called McDonalds. There was no crime committed and the amount of calories consumed were 10,987 respectively.

This is news? Has he assaulted/threatened anybody - unless there is something they are not adding ... This sounds like Big Brother on overdrive - possibly someone with confusion thinking they are people they used to know or whatever.

Was it a quiet day in Asda for shoplifting that they had nothing else to do??

This "crime reporter" wouldn't have the ability to write for a school paper, never mind a "proper" newspaper. No crime, no victim, nothing at all in this. Not the first time she has spouted nonsense. She is clearly a "feminist" who suspects every man of being a threat to women, based on this and previous reports. She often reports assaults on women rather than alleged assaults - presumption of guilt.

I think people disagreed with your remark as you were clearly stating the obvious, not sure if you were expecting a gold star and to be told to go to the top of the class?

I must admit when i first read the article i was under the impression that there had been a complaint made by the Women.
It is only now that i realise this is all because of Big Brother surveillance.

We should all be very afraid , this means if we unwittingly walk in the same direction or go in the same places as someone else ,oreven linger too long in a certain place then we can be dragged before the courts as a crazed stalker or some kind of pervert.

I honestly hope there is more evidence that the chap was up to no good and the police have decided to withold it at this time , otherwise 1984 as eventually arrived.
