TAKE Me Out star Paddy McGuinness gave his seal of approval to the USN Bolton Arena’s newly refurbished gym during a special visit.
The 40-year-old comedian and presenter was shown how to operate some of the gym’s £400,000 of new equipment by close friend and Arena operations manager Simon Sharrock this afternoon.
Paddy, a former manager and fitness instructor at Bolton Council’s leisure centres like Horwich and Farnworth, has been a member of the Arena gym for four years.
But he now fits “body pump” classes around his TV commitments.
“It’s an aerobics class with weights,” he explained. “I like things that get you moving with music and all that.
“But sometimes if you’re a bloke and you walk into a class full of women, you feel a bit out of place.
“But body pump it’s 50-50 between men and women. You can do whatever weight you want. It’s really good."
And he described the not-for-profit Arena as a “fantastic facility” for the local community.
“What I like about it here is that it’s great for the people of the Bolton area. It feels like a private health club, but actually it’s not."
