A DRIVER had to be cut from his car after a crash on the M61.
Firefighters were called to junction 2 of the motorway at just before 1pm, when a car turned on its side after rolling down an embankment.
The driver, an elderly man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment after being cut from his vehicle.
A specialist response unit from Leigh, North West Air Ambulance, firefighters from Farnworth and Eccles and the police were called to the incident.
The carriageway was closed for an hour and a half and reopened just before 3pm.
