Homes evacuated and road closed after car crashes into gas main

FIVE homes had to be evacuated after a car crashed into a gas main in Dunscar.

Police were called to the A666 Blackburn Road at Dunscar at just after 8pm when the driver of the red Fiat Punto crashed.

The road has been closed both ways between Longworth Lane and Eagley Way and police are directing traffic around the closure.

Engineers are now at the scene to rectify the problem and it is hoped families will be back in their homes by 11pm.

No-one was injured in the crash and no damage was caused to any of the homes.
