INTERNATIONAL comedian Jimeoin is coming to Bolton.

He will bring his observations, complete with hawk eye dissection of the absurdities of life, to the Albert Halls tomorrow night.

The English born, Irish stand-up comedian and actor moved to Australia in the early 1990s, at the age of 22, which is where he rose to prominence.

The 48-year-old, who used to be a builder, said: “I had a backpacker’s one-year visa and that’s what originally took me over here.

“I think pretty much, on the first day, I had that sense of this is somewhere I could spend some time.”

He came to the public’s attention in the UK between 2005 and 2008 while performing a comedy tour of Australia’s outback and major cities, which was filmed for the BBC Northern Ireland documentary — Jimeoin Down Under.

The comedian, whose name is pronounced Jim Owen, said: “Everyone has the ability to make people laugh if they give it a go.”

Being an international comic, does he find different things get different people and cultures chuckling?

He said: “No, people are people. You laugh at the same things, you cry at the same things. There are age groups that are very fickle. There’s a trendy comedy scene and then there are people that want to have a laugh.

“I like finding bands as opposed to being told about a good band. It’s the same with comedy.”

His show, “Jimeoin — Yes, yes, Whatever….?!” starts at 7.30pm.
