ARTISTIC individuals are being called on to take part in creative workshops aimed at involving the Radcliffe community with this year’s town carnival.

The recently-formed Radcliffe Town Community Carnival Committee hope members of the public will join them to design costumes and float decorations which can be used in the carnival parade this June.

The team have arranged the 10-week programme of workshops, which begin on February 25 and take place weekly between 1pm and 3pm at Coronation Road Library, in partnership with Bury Adult Learning Centre.

Carnival committee chairman Andrew Clarkson said: “The theme of this year’s carnival is ‘Medieval Fantasy and Fairytale’.

“However, this is by no means set in stone and the theme is a guide for the local community.

“As the parade is free, we would like everyone to get involved in whatever way they can and we hope these workshops will help inspire people’s creativity.”

Carnival secretary Edward Spencer added: “These workshops are primarily aimed at adults.

“We’re asking parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles with a flair for fashion and who have a free couple of hours to come down and join in our first workshop.

“This is the chance to have some fun, meet new people and learn new skills.”

This year’s Radcliffe Carnival Weekend will take place on June 7 and June 8.
