BUDDING young actors have the chance to grace the Octagon stage — in the theatre’s up-coming production of the hit movie Brassed Off.

Producers are looking for youngsters to play a five-year-old and an eight-year-old in the play, which will be at the theatre from May 15 to June 14.

All applicants must fill in an application form and return it to the Octagon by Wednesday, February 26, and auditions will then be held on Sunday, March 2, at the Octagon.

A spokesman for the theatre said: “This is a great opportunity for young actors and those wanting to get into the profession, and for anyone who would like the experience of working with a professional director and actors in a large-scale production.”

There will be three teams of young people required for the production — one boy (playing an eight-year-old) and one girl (playing a five-year-old) on each team to play the roles of Craig and Melody.

The spokesman added: “The teams will perform on a rotating schedule. No professional acting exper-ience is required, just enthusiasm, commitment and lots of hard work.”

Applicants must be prepared to make a commitment to the rehearsal and performance schedule which will start from Sunday, May 11, until Saturday, June 14.

Actors must be available for the full week from Sunday, May 11, to Friday, May 16, rehearsing every day, and they will need to be available to perform on a rotating schedule.
