BOLTON West MP Julie Hilling has praised the work of libraries during a visit to Westhoughton.
She met the toddlers group and local history society at the library in Library Street to celebrate National Libraries Day.
Several community groups, including computer classes, a kids’ club and a hearing clinic, are based at the library.
Ms Hilling said it was great to meet with residents and see the toddlers’ group in action.
She added: “With the current financial difficulties, libraries have lost funding and suffered cuts over the past few years. It’s vital to local groups that libraries stay open in Bolton, ensuring those services are available to residents of all ages.”
