A THREE-DAY inquest will be held into the deaths of two young men killed after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree

Jack Francis Christian, aged 22, and Lee James Perris, aged 23, died when the silver Volkswagen Polo they were in overturned and hit a tree in Bury Road, Radcliffe, at 3.30am on Sunday, December 2, 2012.

The inquest will be held at Oldham Magistrates Court in August.

Mr Perris lived in Radcliffe and Mr Christian was from Bury.

A routine patrol officer saw the car, which the men were in, with frost on its windows driving along Bury Road.

The officer activated the car’s emergency sirens but lost sight of the car before it crashed outside Newbank Garden Centre.

In a family statement from Mr Perris’ family said: “Lee loved football and was a massive Manchester United fan.

“He had a love of music and would often play his guitar.

“Lee was a sociable person who enjoyed socialising with his large circle of friends. He will be deeply missed.”

A tribute from Mr Christian’s family said: “Jack was a much-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend to everyone who knew him.

“He was kind-hearted, loving and fun. He will leave a massive hole in our hearts and lives.”

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has launched an investigation into the crash.
