THE University of Bolton has extended its international reach by joining forces with one of the largest and fastest growing private education institutions in Malaysia.

The university will validate five degree level courses with The Legenda Education Group (LEG) — which has four colleges — in the areas of engineering and built environment.

This could increase to 21 programmes in subject areas as diverse as business and art.

Dr Zubair Hanslot, provost of external relations at the University of Bolton said: “This is a great opportunity for the university to enhance its teaching provision in Malaysia.

“The university already has strong links in the region and a history of delivering excellent degree level courses there.

“This latest strategic partnership, with such a highly regarded education institution, can only further enhance our reputation.”

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by LEG’s founder and director, Dato’ Raymond Ooi Chong Seong and the university’s vice chancellor, Professor George Holmes, in Malaysia.

Linton University College deputy vice-chancellor Alla Kasava Rao said: “This partnership brings quality UK education at an affordable price for Malaysians and international students.

“Besides offering the University of Bolton programmes at LEG, the two institutions can also collaborate in research, staff exchanges and development.”
