ONE of Radcliffe’s most popular pubs will be closed for nearly two months from next week while a £650,000 refurbishment takes place.

The Sparking Clog, in Moor Road, will shut on Monday and is expected to reopen on April 22 with an extension at the front and a new children’s play area forming part of the major renovation.

Paul Tabbenor, manager of the Sparking Clog, said: “This is a full refurbishment and we really hope the public will like what they see when we reopen.

“We are hoping to have a celebration event for the launch and throughout the year will have an emphasis on helping local charities who want to hold events here.”

Around 20 new staff are being taken on and an online application process will go live on Monday.
