FAMILIES of disabled children can find out more about the services available to them at a special information day.

Bolton Area Council for Parents and Carers (BACPAC) is organising its second event after it proved to be a success last year.

BACPAC was formed in 2008 to support families of children who have disabilities.

It is grant funded and enables families to have their say and shape local services.

The information day, being held at the Holiday Inn in Bolton town centre, is designed to signpost families to the services and support available to them as well as update them on the latest developments regarding national changes.

Christine Bleasdale, committee member, said: “We are a voluntary group working to improve services for disabled children in Bolton.

“We decided to organised this information day following the positive feedback we got from the first one.

“There is a lot of information out there for parents and carers and there will be a lots of stands providing information about what services and activities are available in the Bolton area, covering topics including education, leisure and health.

“We will also have free seminars.”

The event is designed for families of children with disabilities up to the age of 25 and the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Colin Shaw, will also be dropping by.

Mrs Bleasdale said: “The event runs from 1pm to 7pm and parents and carers can bring their children.

“We are running it until 7pm so as many people can visit as possible and drop in anytime.

“It is not too late for exhibitors to have stand either.”

The event takes place on Wednesday, March 5.
