A MAN accused of murdering a war veteran will go on trial today.

Daniel Crompton, aged 24, of no fixed address, denies murdering and robbing 87-year-old Frank Worsley.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at Mr Worsley’s home in Longfield Road, Daubhill, on August 3 last year.

Mr Worsley died in hospital on August 20 after suffering a stroke and bleeding in his brain.

The trial, which is expected to last about five days, is due to start at Manchester Crown Court this afternoon.
