THE Bishop of Bolton will be taking to the streets tomorrow and asking people to share prayer requests with him.

The Rt Rev Chris Edmondson, pictured, will be in Victoria Square from 11am to 1pm, carrying a box for requests, under a banner saying “Pray one for me”.

It is the fourth year he has gone to Bolton town centre on Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, to offer people the opportunity of sharing their prayers.

The requests will be taken to a service later that day.

Bishop Edmondson said: “In times of trouble, crisis or out of gratitude, many people say a prayer, or ask someone to pray for them.

"Research carried out by a charity concluded that as many as 20 million adults in the UK pray on a regular basis.

“Over the years I have been in markets, schools and public places on Ash Wednesday, and have had some amazing and deeply moving conversations with people, who have asked for prayer about a whole variety of concerns.”

People can also post requests via prayoneforme.org or via facebook.com/prayoneforme
