A BOLTON man has been arrested in Southport on suspicion of burglary.
Merseyside Police confirmed that a 50-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday in the Birkdale area just after 5pm.
He was arrested by officers in Saxon Road following reports of a burglary at a house in nearby Twistfield Close.
The victim, a 30-year-old man, had returned home to find his front door had been forced open.
Once inside he realised he had been burgled and, after seeing a man acting suspiciously on his driveway, called the police.
The homeowner then followed the alleged offender until officer arrived and made the arrest.
The 50-year-old man remaines in police custody and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
