BOLTON will do battle tonight as two singers take to the stage in a bid to impress music legends on The Voice UK.

Vicky Jones, aged 29, from Bromley Cross, and Joe Keegan, aged 17, from Westhoughton, will perform with fellow contestants in the battle round for the chance to win a place in the next stage of the BBC talent show.

Vicky, whose brother is McFly singer Danny Jones, will go head-to-head with Melissa Gill in the hope of impressing their coach Sir Tom Jones, while Thornleigh A level student Joe and Jamie Johnson will battle to be chosen by Kylie Minogue.

Vicky said: “Melissa and I kind of clocked each other from the first day.

“We’re obviously both similar. We’ve got bright hair and tattoos.

“We had felt like it might happen.”

Each coach has to cut their team of 12 in half, enlisting the help of some celebrity pals before the duos do battle.

Vicky said: “I thought I was nervous for the blind auditions but, round the piano, my knees were knocking together. All of a sudden, you’re in a room with Tinie Tempah and Tom Jones and he was standing right in front of me.”

Tonight, Joe will be seen being coached by Kylie and guest mentor Jake Shears before going up against 19-year-old Jamie.

Joe said: “It was all good fun and a really great experience to be able to work with Kylie and Jake from the Scissor Sisters.”

The teenager, who is also a champion Irish dancer, admits he was upset when he discovered he had to do battle with Jamie.

He said: “When we got the pairings, we had spent a bit of time with each other.

“Jamie was probably the one I wanted to be put against the least because he’s a really nice guy.”

Tune in to The Voice on BBC One at 7pm tonight to find out if Vicky and Joe make it through.
