Man left with fractured skull after attack outside Leigh nightclub

The Bolton News: Man left with fractured skull after attack outside Leigh nightclub Man left with fractured skull after attack outside Leigh nightclub

A MAN was left with a fractured skull after his head was smashed against the pavement in an unprovoked attack outside a Leigh nightclub.

The 24-year-old victim was standing outside Vogue Nightclub near JR Taxis in King Street in the early hours of yesterday when he was punched in the face by a stranger, who then fled on foot.

The blow caused the victim to fall backwards and hit his head on the pavement, fracturing his skull.

He is now in a stable condition in hospital after the attack, which happened at 5.15am.

Det Sgt Paul Jackson said: “This was a cowardly and unprovoked attack on an innocent man enjoying himself with friends.

“The strength of the attack caused the victim to sustain serious head injuries and though he is now in a stable condition, the consequences could quite easily have been far worse.

“We are appealing for witnesses who may have been leaving the nightclub at the time or perhaps in the area at the time of the assault.”

Anyone with information can call police on 0161 85667225 , 0161 85667292 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Vogue again! That place really should be shut down. If the patrons of Vogue in Leigh are anything like the patrons of Vogue in Bolton then the description "cretins, buffoons and ne'er do wells" would be too kind. The description "knuckle dragging cocaine addict" however, would be quite fitting.

The club is not at fault, they cannot be to blame for incredibly stupid and drunk behavior of some people. The majority of punters are well behaved. You cannot spoil things for everyone else. But the door staff and bar staff should be refusing entry or drinks to anyone who is slightly wobbly, and patrolling the club to ensure safety and punters behave.

Look this kind of thing can happen absolutely anywhere, and has happened in locations that are usually trouble free. In my experience you can usually read whether a customer is going to be trouble. Just a few words from vigilant door staff can figure out if a person is trouble.

Still you have a point with "knuckle dragging" - nobody likes a knuckle dragger lol

Secondly this could be the 'Knockout' craze gathering pace and nothing to do with the actual club.

Leigh is a rough hole there is always trouble the doormen let anybody in the bars whereas in Bolton despite its reputation the doormen are pretty strict.
