A CHARACTER from a hit film popped into sample some of the treats on offer at a Deane primary school’s new cafe — and they were far from despicable.
Dave the minion from the film ‘Despicable Me’ was the guest of honour as Year Six pupils at St Mary’s Primary School in Edale Road officially opened the new shop.
Year Five teacher Nicky Hawksworth said the cafe — which is run by students — has been an enormous success so far. She said: “The school council decided they wanted to use the log cabin in school a bit more, so they decided to set up a shop.
“They love it.
“We did a trial run with the Year Fives and Six it was absolute mayhem. So now we’ve split it so that on each day of the week a different year get to use it.
“It’s brilliant.”
Dave was brought to school courtesy of Mascot Hire.
