A TEENAGE singer is using her talents to help raise money for terminally ill children.

Jenna Taylor, aged 16, from Bromley Cross, is organising a talent show in aid of Derian House Children’s Hospice.

She is looking for people with a range of talents — including singers, dancers, magicians and actors — to showcase their skills at Rumworth Hall, Prescott Street, Daubhill, on Friday, April 4.

They will take to the stage in front of a panel of judges — retired professional football referee, Mark Halsey, and wife Michelle, former Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton, Alan and Denise Wilkinson, and dance teacher Anna Kinley.

About 15 people have already signed up to take part in the event but Jenna, a student at Bolton Sixth Form, is appealing for more people to enter.

Jenna, who has been singing since the age of 10, said: “We’ve got singers, solo dancers, group dancers, musicians.

“We’re looking for more people to take part, as well as more people to come and actually watch.

“I’m singing on the night as well. We’ve got a big raffle going on with 50 to 60 prizes. There’s all sorts going on.”

She has already raised £190 by packing bags at Tesco, Little Lever, and all money raised will be donated to the Chorley hospice which provides care for many children and young people across the North West.

Jenna, who regularly busks in Bolton town centre, said: “I’ve been doing it for about a year.

“I just saw other people doing it and decided to start.

“I sing anything and everything. My favourite song to sing is At Last by Etta James.

“My ambition is to be an accountant but also do singing on the side.”

Jenna’s Talent Search, sponsored by Dove Bank Road Garage, Little Lever, LA Diner, Little Lever, Mobile 2K, Bolton town centre, and Craigmore Painting and Decorating, will take place at Rumworth Hall on Friday, April 4, at 7pm. Tickets cost £5 on the door.

If you would like to take part, phone Jenna on 07780 111448.
