Customer tells of gun terror in Halliwell pub

A CUSTOMER who witnessed a tense stand-off as a man brandished a gun in a pub has spoken of her relief that no one was hurt.

Six people were arrested after the incident in The Claremont Arms in Halliwell Road, Halliwell, on Monday night.

The incident happened after the bar worker asked the group, who were playing on a fruit machine, to buy a drink.

They refused and one of the men revealed what is thought to have been a gun. They then walked off.

The woman, who asked not to be named, said: “They were standing in the far corner of the pub at a fruit machine, all huddled together, when the bar worker said they had to get a drink, and that they couldn’t just stand there using the machines.

“They just ignored the bar worker and carried on. The bar worker then asked again and they got quite hostile.

"Someone has then gone over and stood at the end of the bar to protect this worker, because they were worried about them getting hurt.

“These guys have then walked towards him and pulled out a gun.

“I saw the gun and I just froze. I don’t really remember much after that.

“I'm just relieved it passed off without anybody getting hurt.”

Police arrested six males, aged between 15 and 26, on suspicion of firearms offences.

Five were bailed and a sixth is still in police custody, a Greater Manchester Police spokesman said last night.

Police said the weapon had been seized and is being forensically tested.

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 0161 8565761.

when is this government going to crack down on these new arrivals to our country ? They escape political and religious persecution because of the ethinicity etc , and bring with them the very culture the're trying to escape from !...We now have more foreign criminals per capita than any other EU country and with previous criminal records in their own country , which the slate has been wiped clean for them before they get here ...so we can find no records of their checkered past ....we should take a leaf out of Australias constituion , they've come along way since deprtation to Botany Bay !!

Because some people will always do what they have always done elsewhere, because thats what they do. All nationalites included & the fact is that to many new arrivals have been put into a few working class areas in this town & also others. This action is now regarded as being a huge mistake. They also find it easier to commit crime as the police have no previous records of their past criminal historys unless they are British. Disaster waiting to happen as the statistics are starting to show.

Its getting so bad that am starting to agree with Thomas222.

most people are liberal by nature but common sense is stating that immigration should stop completely and that instead of importing cheaper workers get people off the dole instead.

But that's too simple for both Tory and Labour, and Lib Dems will do anything for a vote.

It's reform of the benefits system that needs looking at and close the loophole of claiming to be self-employed but no funds to back them up. The Government are trying to get people off the dole with the current reforms and look at the stink that's causing.

This story is one of two that came online. People moved from the first one to the second one. Pity you missed it was some good comments. All the brothels they raided were also Hungarian by the way. Living here we find out very soon who they are & what they are. There is little pc in the real world where normal people can talk to each other about someone without fear of being called racist as you did.
