A TEAM of students has thrown the gauntlet down to Bolton bin men — by claiming they can beat them in a race to recycle the most rubbish.
Orlando Village Halls of Residence will play host to a Total Wipeout-style assault course race on Wednesday.
Recycle for Greater Manchester’s Up and Forward project has organised the event, which aims to improve recycling levels in Bolton.
Aside from the main competition, the day will include games and activities, a Bungee Recycling Run, as well as goody bags and refreshments.
After the headline race, other teams of students are welcome to have a go a the course, and the team which records the quickest time of the day will win a mystery prize.
Fern Lynch, campaign officer for Up and Forward, said: “Students make a massive contribution to life in Bolton and this kind of event is an excellent opportunity of getting the student community involved in the local area as well as raising awareness of how important recycling is in an interactive and fun way.”
