BOLTON FM presenter Matthew Davidge is preparing for a Big Brother style charity sleep-a-thon in Asda’s shop window.

The Middlebrook store has made a purpose built sleeping area for the event, which includes an 18ft king size double bed, where Matthew will spend his time being watched by shoppers over a six-day period to help raise money for Bolton Hospice and charity Tickled Pink.

During that time Matthew, who presents the Saturday Weekender on the community station every weekend from 10am, will be visited by a number of local celebrities including Dave Spikey, Stu Francis, The Taste winner Debbie Halls Evans, and Corrie’s Georgia May Foote, who plays Katy Armstrong in the soap.

There will also be live music, a daily raffle and a chance to win a five-minute trolley dash around the store.

Bolton Wanderers will be giving away a night’s stay for two at the Whites Hotel, as well as season tickets and a hospitality box for a business.

The Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Colin Shaw, and Horwich’s Town Mayor, Cllr Christine Root, will be joining Matthew for a Champagne breakfast on Wednesday, April 2, at 11am.

Matthew said: “It will be six days and six nights of living in a supermarket and this is the first event of its kind the station has ever done.

“Bolton FM is growing year on year and we have just been granted a new five-year licence, so to make the event the biggest we could, we have called on a number of celebrities to come and help us raise some serious money for two fantastic charities.

“I am being looked after there by the sound of it — they have got me a king size bed, so I imagine that I will be nice and comfortable. I might not want to go home at the end of it.

“There are lots of things going on throughout the week so it would be great if people could come and support the cause.”
