Quality bit of photo-journalism there.

"We need a picture of the traffic backed up on the M61" thinks the Journo.

"But it's raining and I don't want to get wet, so I'll get my mate to drive over that bridge in Farnworth and I'll snap it through the window of the moving car on my phone."

It is now 15.49 - and it took 30 mins to get from Four Lane Ends to Chequerbend Roundabout (almost standing traffic northbound) - luckily with local knowledge I diverted down Park Road and up Church Street and turned right to get home - no traffic here. I did know that it would be gridlock - but the alternative CNR looked to me to be almost as bad. This has been horrendous all day for drivers. Crossing over the M61 approaching four Lane Ends I could see that nothing was moving northbound. Feel so sorry for them - they must have been stuck there all day. I feel it would have been nice for report of traffic conditions on local roads to be posted.

It's a still taken from the motorway camera probably from the Traffic England website. We don't have bridges that high in this area, not do we have journos that leave their desks.
