POLICE are looking for a man wanted in connection with a Great Lever arson attack in which a woman had to flee a "towering inferno."
The 51-year-old woman, was awoken at her home in Stokesley Walk, Great Lever, at 1.45 on Wednesday, April 2 by the sound of flames on the side and on the roof of her townhouse.
She managed to get out of the house and alert a neighbour, who quickly called 999.
Detectives are keen to speak to anyone with information about the incident or who knows someone who uses the name similar to “Mozzy” or “Wozzy” - who is believed to have been at the scene.
Detective Constable Gary Knox, said: “This fire had the potential to have led to a fatality and it was only by good fortune that the lady at the address was woken by the noise and able to get out of, what quickly became a towering inferno.
“I would be interested to speak to anyone who has any knowledge of this incident or has heard anything relating to how or why this fire started or those responsible.”
Firefighters had to remove roof tiles to tackle the fire.
They suspect the blaze began in a mattress among a pile of rubbish next to a bin store outside the house.
