THE spectacular wedding of the youngest son of the hugely successful Bolton-based Asons Solicitors was attended by more than 2,000 people.

Bilal Akram, aged 25, married 21-year-old Khair Un Nisar who he met 18 months ago on holiday in Pakistan.

The two tied the knot in a society-style wedding with guests flying in from Pakistan, Germany, Spain, France and Portugal as well as travelling from across the UK.

Luxury cars including Rolls Royce Phantoms, Bentleys and Porches were parked outside the 3D Centre in Bella Street, Bolton, where the ceremony took place.

Mr Akram has joined Asons Solicitors as Compliance Director, joining his brothers Kamran and Imran Akram who run the firm.

His wedding celebrations began a week ago with yesterday’s event the grandest yet.

For football lovers, the Liverpool v Manchester City game was screened on large televisions.

The wedding banquet featured four different starters, five main courses and two desserts.

A large multi-tier, 10ft tall cake with the base measuring five feet was the centre piece of the banquet and the couple donated to the bottom two layers to Bolton Hospice, the Women’s Refuge, Bolton Food Bank and Bolton Lads and Girls Club.

Mr Akram said: “At Asons, we’re all about family — the Bolton family — so wherever we see an opportunity to help out or to get local community groups involved, we do our best.

“While I can’t invite all of Bolton to the wedding — we’d never find the space — we can at least give them something to go with their tea and coffee on Sunday evening.”

Mr Akram and his new wife, who is studying to become a teacher in Pakistan, will enjoy a honeymoon in Dubai and Malaysia before travelling to Saudi Arabia for a holy pilgrimage. Mrs Akram said: “We have had an amazing few weeks.

“The functions started last Sunday with various events both at home and at a banqueting hall.”

Mr Akram said: “We must be the luckiest couple in the world.”

Asons is to build a £7 million office and create up to 300 new jobs.

The futuristic building will form a new gateway to the town centre, on the site of the former Bolton College building in Clarence Street.

As well as office space, the development will include a restaurant, space for business networking and corporate events and a rooftop garden.

The development will complete a fairytale rise for the Akram family.

The father of the boys, Mohammed, now aged 59, moved to Bolton from Pakistan in 1972 to work in Wolfenden Mill.
