WESTHOUGHTON'S new mayor has been formally appointed.
Cllr Kevan Jones, a Bolton borough councillor for Westhoughteon South, will succeed Cllr Christopher Peacock as mayor of the town for 2014-15.
Conservative Cllr Lynda Winrow-Baker has been appointed deputy mayor, succeeding Cllr Jones in the role.
It is expected that she will be the mayor for 2015-16.
The decisions were formally made at a planning meeting of Westhoughton town council tonight.
More discussions on the council's processes to monitor CCTV faults took place, in addition to proposals to implement a new campaign in the town to tackle dog fouling.
