STAFF at Meridian Business Sales wore a different kind of shirt to work than usual to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund.

Ten workers — mostly wearing Wanderers strips — joined in with the Football Shirt Friday charity day and raised £80 for the fund, named after football legend Bobby.

The defender, who led England to World Cup glory in 1966 and was awarded an OBE a year later, died aged 51 of bowel cancer in 1993. Administrator Alex Greenwood suggested the idea to her co-workers after seeing the event go viral on Twitter.

She said: “Someone at work saw on Twitter about the Football Shirt Friday event, so we decided it would be fun to get involved with. Most people came in wearing Wanderers shirts, of course, but there was a Barcelona and a Leeds shirt too.

“We usually have dress down Friday and donate the money to charity, so this was just a different way of doing that and raising money.”
