TOWER FM presenter Simon Morykin is reportedly leaving the station after less than two months to take on the mid-morning slot on Sheffield station Hallam FM.

Radio news website Radio Today tweeted about his departure, saying: “Moves: Well he didn't stay long! Simon Morykin moves to Hallam.”

Another post on the Radio Today website, also dated April 15, said: “New Tower FM breakfast presenter Simon Morykin is moving to Hallam FM to host mid-mornings.”

The 30-year-old presenter, who lives in Tonge Moor, began his Morykin in the Morning breakfast show on March 3 when he took over from long-standing duo Jon and Vix, saying it was his “dream job”.

Since taking over the flagship slot on the UTV station, Simon has built up a solid Twitter following, including singer Olly Murs and celebrity twins Jedward.

So far, no reason has been given for the shock departure, which mirrors what happened when Jon and Vix were axed in February.

Simon moved to Tower from sister station Signal 1 in Stoke, which broadcasts across Cheshire and Staffordshire, presenting Total Access.

Both Simon and UTV were unavailable to comment.
