CHILDREN at Clevelands Preparatory School in Heaton tried their hand at wizardry and witchcraft with a Hogwarts-themed open morning.

Prospective students took part in a variety of activities, including imaginary Quidditch, creating their own magical creature, conducting scientific experiments and writing spell-themed poetry.

They were joined by current students and staff at the school, while parents of the visiting pupils were also encouraged to take part.

Andrew Knowles, deputy head teacher of the school, said: “It was a fun morning — the visitors really got a feel for the place. We enjoyed it very much and the children were able to get involved in something which wasn’t quite so academic.”
