A FOOTBALL club in Westhoughton has been awarded a grant of £2,000 at a meeting tonight to help fund some drainage work.

Daisy Hill FC asked Westhoughton Town Council to help them pay to drain fields adjacent to their main pitch.

Council members unanimously approved the grant, and paid tribute to the work done by the club to continue to run a competitive club.

Also at the meeting, there was further discussion over how best to progress the long-standing debate over Westhoughton's CCTV coverage and how faults are reported.

Planning and development matters were also debated, while the programme for the town's commemoration of the World War One centenary was finalised and approved by members.
