TWO primary school pupils have helped raise £355 for Cancer Research UK — gaining admirers from all over the world in the process.

Walmsley CE Primary School pupils Jack Adamson, aged six, and brother James, aged seven, made and sold ‘Looms of Hope’ rubber band bracelets and key rings to raise funds for the charity, with help from their mother Heidi.

They received donations from countries such as Finland, America and South Africa, as well as staff and classmates at their school.

The boys, who had originally aimed to raise £300, presented a cheque to Jim Hall, chairman of Cancer Research UK’s Turton Committee.

Mrs Adamson, who lost her grandfather to cancer, came up with the idea of raising money for the charity.

She said: “Jack and James are both keen fundraisers — I’m very proud of them. For children so young, they pushed themselves a lot. The amount of money they have made is absolutely beyond what I expected.

“Knowing that the money they have raised will help people in the future has spurred them on to do even more.”

Mr Hall added: “It was an excellent job by Jack and James. Their help is most appreciated and it’s thanks to people like them that we are able to continue running as an organisation.”
