TODDLERS who love to groove are getting the chance to strut their stuff in sessions run by former international dancer Nicola Devenney.

Encouraged by the enthusiasm of her own three-year-old daughter, Alexandra, Ms Devenney launched Shake Your Booty at Lostock Parish Centre, Chew Moor.

But such is the popularity of the class she has had to put on extra sessions at Horwich Resource Centre, in Beaumont Road.

Ms Devenney, aged 36, is also a former hairdresser and beauty therapist and says the classes are open to youngsters aged 18 months to four years.

The former Hayward School pupil, who was brought up in Morris Green, added: “It’s a disco-themed class for little boys and girls.

“The aim is to encourage the kids to find their rhythm and co-ordination.

“It’s proving really popular and it helps that it is a pay-as-you-go arrangement.

“I used to love dancing. I started when I was seven and entered a lot of international competitions when I was in my 20s.

“When Alexandra started showing a keen interest in dancing herself, I realised there was nothing for kids like her who love to move to music.

“That is why I created the group. I’ve now got about 20 kids attending regularly and they really enjoy it.”

The Lostock sessions take place each Wednesday, running from 10.45am to 11.15am, while the Horwich Resource Centre classes run on Tuesdays, from 10.15am to 10.45am.
