A WOMAN had to be cut out of her car after a crash with a lorry at the Chequerbent roundabout in Westhoughton.

The Park Road junction of the roundabout was shut between 1.45pm and 4pm today while emergency services cleared up the smash.

The 61-year-old woman was taken to hospital with a spinal injury after firefighters cut off the roof of her Mercedes C200.

you take your life in your hands here if you are crossing traffic accessing Park Road on this roundabout from Snydle Way if you need to proceed on the A6 towards Chorley when it is busy - usually drivers are very considerate but you need to be so very alert. Apart from the sheer volume of traffic, if you are driving a car, your line of sight is often obstructed by the larger vehicles. I enquired about part time traffic lights here for rush hour - but was told that a) it was not busy enough and b) it would cost too much. I hope this lady makes a full recovery.

Loads of crashes reported on here but we never get to see reports of who caused the accidents.
