WE find many people are disillusioned with politics and politicians and recent events nationally, such as the expenses scandals, have supported that view.

They believe we are “all the same” and my message today is a simple one to say that voting can change things. Here are some differences you would see in a Conservative-run Bolton.

You would have cleaner streets free from litter, dog-fouling and fly-tipping. This year, Labour voted against a Conservative proposal that diverted £1 million into street cleaning, providing two new teams and vehicles with full enforcement powers.

Conservatives would have accepted the Government grant to freeze your council tax. Bolton’s Labour council was the only council in Greater Manchester to put up council tax this year.

You would still have a weekly grey bin collection. Conservatives believe it is a universal front-line service that residents should expect in return for their council tax.

We believe more money should be prioritised for our roads and pavements.

We believe during these tough times, councillors’ allowances and trade union expenses should be reduced.

Conservatives would treat every community the same by giving each ward an equal area forum budget.

Conservative councillors are at the heart of the communities they represent. Do the best for your area and elect a Conservative councillor on Thursday.
