BOLTON Olympian Jason Kenny will be on his bike for this year’s Sky Ride, organisers have announced.

The triple London Olympic gold medallist will join thousands of people to cycle the traffic-free streets of Bolton on Sunday, June 1.

Jason, who took part in last year’s event, said people of all abilities and ages can enjoy the Sky Ride.

He said: “It’s a great opportunity to come and ride on closed roads, which is a very strange feeling when you’ve never done it before. The atmosphere at a SkyRide is almost like a festival — it’s a great celebration of people, everywhere on bikes exploring the town.”

It is the third year SkyRide has been held in Bolton, one of 15 places across the country that will host the initiative this summer.

The first 1,000 people to register will also receive a limited edition Sky Ride gift on arrival.

Cllr Cliff Morris, leader of Bolton Council, said: “We are delighted that Bolton’s Olympic champion, Jason Kenny, will be joining us again to cycle the route this year.

“We want to encourage everyone to have a go at cycling as it is a great way to keep fit and have fun whatever their age or ability.

"Thousands of people turned out to last year’s event and I hope many more will join in the fun-filled day this time, whether to cycle the route or just to cheer everyone along the way.”
